Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Budgetero ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms apply to all users, including those who access the App via a free or premium account.

2. Description of Service

Budgetero is a personal finance tracking application that allows you to connect your bank accounts, monitor transactions, set budgets, and view spending insights. The App is available on iOS and is operated by Budgetero ("we," "us," or "our").

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the App. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

4. Account Registration

You may create an account using an email address and password, or by signing in with Google or Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

5. Subscription and Billing

  • Budgetero offers a free tier and a premium subscription ("Budgetero Premium").
  • Premium subscriptions are billed monthly through Apple's App Store at the price displayed at the time of purchase.
  • Early adopter pricing, where available, is locked in for the duration of your active subscription.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your iPhone's App Store Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued.
  • All billing and refund inquiries are handled by Apple in accordance with their App Store policies.

6. Free Tier Limitations

Free accounts are limited to one connected financial institution and a limited number of data syncs per week. Upgrading to Premium removes these limitations.

7. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms and privacy policies:

  • Plaid — used to securely connect and retrieve data from your financial institutions.
  • Google Sign-In — used as an optional authentication method.
  • Sign in with Apple — used as an optional authentication method.
  • Firebase — used for push notifications.
  • Google AdMob — used to display ads on the free tier.

We are not responsible for the practices or content of these third-party services.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use the App to transmit malware, spam, or other harmful content
  • Circumvent any security, access, or usage controls

9. Financial Information Disclaimer

Budgetero displays financial data retrieved from your connected accounts for personal informational purposes only. The App does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. You should not make financial decisions based solely on information displayed in the App. We are not responsible for any inaccuracies in data provided by your financial institutions via Plaid.

10. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and trademarks in the App are the property of Budgetero. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that financial data will be accurate or up to date. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Budgetero shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that harms the App or other users. You may delete your account at any time from within the App settings.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada.
